Got MBB but not others

For internships, I got interviews to the MBBs but because Oliver Wyman, Booz, Monitor, AT Kearney don't recruit here I only applied online. Haven't gotten selected for any of them.

Do they just ignore some of the online apps, or do they look for something different from MBB?

Oh now that I think about it, BCG was only an online app as well and I got that one...

Don't underestimate the importance of luck in the recruiting process. Maybe the particular person that was reviewing resumes didn't like yours for some random reason.

Also, online apps are looked at much less closely than on campus resume drops.

I got interviews at Goldman Sachs, Bain Capital, Google, JP Morgan, all of MBB, Jane Street,... (and my résumé includes several of those firms). But I never got an interview with, say UBS or BASF. Worse, a firm that gave me an offer one year for which I was the "top spot" (but I turned down) did not deign to interview me the following year. Go figure! I don't think that they're looking for "someone else". AT Kearney would love to select people from the same pool as McKinsey does. Rather, I think that HR is pretty dumb most of the time, and luck is very important.

In any case, you should be glad that you got interviews at MBB rather than the other way around :-) Just nail them!

This is actually fairly common. Rumor has it that 2nd tier consulting shops purposely ding top applicants because they know they'll lose them to MBB. Plenty of people at my school got MBB and rejected from first rounds from other firms. It probably means you're overqualified :-)

Same boat, interviews at all three MBB, no interviews at any of the others you listed, and I applied to all seven.
