Grad Schemes: Central Bank or Private Bank?

Hi all,

I live in Dublin I have offers for several grad schemes but my choice is focused on two: the grad schemes of the Central Bank of Ireland and the grad scheme of the biggest Irish bank with offices in NY and London. Money is exactly the same. The private bank pays for CFA exams. I'd like to work on the big picture of macro-financial economics and I am leaning towards the offer of the private bank for the CFA and future career prospects abroad. I am worried that the CB grad scheme will be more academic and less hands-on as many people that join through the bank go on to gain a PhD. Also, Irish economy is pretty small (relatively speaking) so not a whole lot going on.

What are your thoughts?
