Greenhill London - FT recruiting 2014
Hey there,
has anybody had any experience with the phone interviews for Greenhill London, conducted by FreshMinds? I was invited for one in a few days and would appreciate any comments, experiences, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Hey there! I just got invited to the same thing for Greenhill in London by freshminds. Have you had the interview yet? Any idea what they're going to ask?
No haven't had it yet. Do you have any information about it? I guess it's mostly why M&A, why Greenhill, and "tell me about a situation when you ..." questions.
I guess so, since they said competency. Still, 30 mins is a long time! I'm not sure what the next stages might be! I'm assuming technical, face to face 1:1 interviews at their office maybe?
It's a competency based interview, so it's mainly "tell me about a time where you had to show strong leadership / solved a difficult problem / failed to succeed" etc.
The next round will be a face-to-face interview at the recruiting firm's office which is mainly fit again with a few technical question, followed by Greenhill's assessment center.
There's a fairly accurate description of the process in the WSO company database.
I had the 1st round- got told should hear latest by 9/08. Did people get the same info? or actually heard back?
how’s your first round going? OXI?
this competency based itvw was fairly enough
*easy I meant, sorry for forgetting
The competency based interview was pretty straightforward. Questions were like the examples here in the thread and some other "tell me about a time ... " questions.
I was invited for a second round at the FreshMinds office. Anyone else?
yeah, questions like : tell me a time when you were a leader, what’s the greatest success in your life, solve a completed problem... why financial services, why Greenhill
@Monkey Safari : On which day are you going to FreshMinds office?
On August 21. Have you been invited as well?
Does anybody have some additional information about travel costs etc., especially if you have to fly in to London from Continental Europe?
You may ask them but I guess nothing s reimbursed from both the UK and continental Europe, as usual in boutiques. Where do you come from???
hey Monkey Safari, got invited to the face to face at the Freshminds office as well though they've yet to tell me the date. They say it's going to be competency again...
hey Haart123, have you gotten your date for interview? I am still waiting
yeah, got invited. I will come from Paris
@monkey safari : could you post some questions after having your interview? thanks in advance
Yeah, mines on the 22nd of August they told me. The AC is on the 22nd of September so I think there'll be a long wait after this. Have they told you the date now then?
Yeah, 27th. They said that we can do it through Skype but I have just booked my ticket...
They offered me the Skype interview as well, given my distance, but I also decided to come in person. I guess it's better to do an in-person interview.
Cool, do you live in London?
"given my distance"
ok.
just gone through the itvw at freshminds' office today, fairly not easy - the girl she just bust me...
Was it really only competency based, or also some technicals?
Mix of both, with a bigger focus on technicals. example: how to handle the issue of associates and pbo/fv in accounting/fcial analysis/dcf comps methods, adjusted present value (who does that in IB???)
My interview included competency based questions, questions about motivation and the M&A market as well as brainteasers, followed by a few technicals.
same thing as above ^
Could you list some type of technical, brainteasers and competency questions please? It will be very helpful. Thanks in advance.
Technicals were pretty basic, just a little bit about the valuation techniques and the reasoning behind them.
Brainteasers included mental math (f.e. 8^3 and stuff like that) as well as the typical brainteasers (see http://www.ibankingfaq.com/category/interviewing-brainteasers/ for examples).
Competency questions were similar to the ones we had in the phone interviews. "Tell me about a time when you had to work hard to reach your goal" or stuff like that.
Good luck!
Thanks
I have had my interviews. A big portion of questions were competency and motivation based questions. Some mental math, brainteasers. Few basic techniques questions.
Questions like : Tell me one time that you have unreasonable task. If you have 50 000 pounds, what are you going to do with this money? Why London?
Thanks for your update.
Lolz, people at freshminds are funny
