Greenhill London - FT recruiting 2014

Hey there,

has anybody had any experience with the phone interviews for Greenhill London, conducted by FreshMinds? I was invited for one in a few days and would appreciate any comments, experiences, etc.

Thanks in advance!

It's a competency based interview, so it's mainly "tell me about a time where you had to show strong leadership / solved a difficult problem / failed to succeed" etc.

The next round will be a face-to-face interview at the recruiting firm's office which is mainly fit again with a few technical question, followed by Greenhill's assessment center.

There's a fairly accurate description of the process in the WSO company database.

I had the 1st round- got told should hear latest by 9/08. Did people get the same info? or actually heard back?

The competency based interview was pretty straightforward. Questions were like the examples here in the thread and some other "tell me about a time ... " questions.

I was invited for a second round at the FreshMinds office. Anyone else?

@Monkey Safari : On which day are you going to FreshMinds office?

On August 21. Have you been invited as well?

Does anybody have some additional information about travel costs etc., especially if you have to fly in to London from Continental Europe?

hey Monkey Safari, got invited to the face to face at the Freshminds office as well though they've yet to tell me the date. They say it's going to be competency again...

Yeah, mines on the 22nd of August they told me. The AC is on the 22nd of September so I think there'll be a long wait after this. Have they told you the date now then?

Yeah, 27th. They said that we can do it through Skype but I have just booked my ticket...

They offered me the Skype interview as well, given my distance, but I also decided to come in person. I guess it's better to do an in-person interview.

Cool, do you live in London?

just gone through the itvw at freshminds' office today, fairly not easy - the girl she just bust me...

Was it really only competency based, or also some technicals?

Technicals were pretty basic, just a little bit about the valuation techniques and the reasoning behind them.

Brainteasers included mental math (f.e. 8^3 and stuff like that) as well as the typical brainteasers (see http://www.ibankingfaq.com/category/interviewing-brainteasers/ for examples).

Competency questions were similar to the ones we had in the phone interviews. "Tell me about a time when you had to work hard to reach your goal" or stuff like that.

Good luck!

I have had my interviews. A big portion of questions were competency and motivation based questions. Some mental math, brainteasers. Few basic techniques questions.

Questions like : Tell me one time that you have unreasonable task. If you have 50 000 pounds, what are you going to do with this money? Why London?

Thanks for your update.
