GS Groups [NOT TMT]
Recently received a lateral offer to GS (2nd year analyst) and am not sure which group I want to pursue. Currently have not received a group placement but HR has told me TMT is full. I'm not super turned on by PE, but more interested in HF / Corp Dev / Start-Up work.
Not sure which of the following groups I should aim for:
Consumer Retail
Healthcare
Industrials
Curious about lateral process - I thought it’s group specific? Like if a group has opening then it runs process. Seems GS does it different? Would love to hear ur experience w it. Thnx
I think I had a bit of a unique situation where I happen to network very well with 2 global heads and they got me through the process.

Industrials has worst culture (long hours, weekend work, difficult personalities, old-school vibes) across GS period. If you care about WLB at all, avoid.
Other three groups listed are all strong. Don't have great insight on culture, but have heard great things about Consumer culture-wise. No need to worry about deal flow at either, so would go with your industry interest / personal fit.
Didn't know industrials had that branding but appreciate the insight.
Definitely interested in CnR, seems really interesting and exits are very appealing + culture. Thanks for the info
C&R and Healthcare should be your top choices. Fig is great but pretty specialized
Second this. Have heard good things about both cultures too. I would personally put HC #1 and Consumer #2 but that’s just me
