GS IBD Operations Analyst

Hello,

I'm going into my junior year and I just received an offer from GS as an IBD Operations Summer Analyst. From what I've seen on WSO, this role does not offer many transferrable skills to other areas of finance, however, I am fairly certain that I will be able to have close interactions with those in FO (networking opportunities?). I don't want to be stuck in operations, so I am wondering:

1) how attractive is this position for careers in finance (including corporate) and where do most people who start in operations end up?

2) what are the biggest pros of a job in operations?

3) to be honest, I'm not entirely set on my career path and have been considering IB, S&T, quant, and engineering (econ and CS double major); is this a decent starting point for exploration?

I really appreciate any and all help/advice- thanks everyone!
