GS Signing Bonus

Does GS pay signing bonus to every newly-hired employee? And When? It should be be stated in the offer letter, right? If not, can it be negotiable?

Thanks a lot for your comments in advance.

it's stated in the offer letter. Most places give it to you 90 days after signing and you have to refund it if you leave the company before 1 year of employment. Everything is in the offer letter. It is negotiable, but they have to REALLY like you for you to negotiate it and don't think the "I have another offer" will work. The most I have seen it go to is 15K..so think about what you are doing for only 5K.

I'm not exactly sure how Goldman's signing bonus works, but at my bank, we were paid a lump sum in advance of our start. If we decided to leave in our first year, we would owe back a pro-rated amount. At bonus time, it was not credited against our bonuses, so I wouldn't consider it as an advance, if that's the way you're thinking about it.
