Guidance/advice needed

I go to school at the university of Michigan. I unfortunately am not in the business school there but am planning on majoring in economics and minoring in business (I know I am at a disadvantage because of this). I am wondering if anyone has some tips on how to break into the finance/IB/PE/VC world without the constant support from the business school.

A very close family member is high up at Goldman, so I am hoping I could use them as a mentor through this process.

Are there any career consultants I could work with or programs I could apply to that will offer some guidance and support (especially during the recruiting process)?

Any information/advice is greatly appreciated.
