Hedge Fund Back-Office vs. Sales and Trading Internship

I am a junior at a well-regarded semi-target school in the Midwest, and struck out in trying to obtain a sales and trading summer internship at a bulge bracket firm. I did, however, receive and accept a back-to-mid office position at a premier hedge fund, which will consist of basically doing financial data analysis, with limited direct exposure to the firm's trading operation.

My question is: will it be possible for me to obtain a full-time Associate position in sales and trading given that I will have spent the summer in this capacity at the hedge fund.

there's no comparison between the two. Your internship should be focused on what you want to do and not what firm it is from.

The way I would see it is, you can choose to be best friends with a solid 9 or hook up with a 7 that will fuck your brains out.

Fuck no you will not get a FT offer at a S&T desk if your previous internship is a BO role. S&T requires killer instinct, either you have it or you don't. BO is for people that are very process oriented and preferred things to be highly structured.
