Help choosing degree
I have an offer to study at the LSE. Within the first year, it is possible to switch to any course within the maths department.
I am stuck between Maths with Data Science or Maths and Economics. Not really sure which I would enjoy more, so trying to evaluate based on pros / cons.
I'm not really sure what I want to do after - ideally something entrepreneurial, but if not, something on this forum that isn't VC or IB (although I know IB is a 'stepping stone' more often than not).
The 'data science' portion of the prior course has machine learning, data algorithms, artificial intelligence and programming etc - it's not 'business' orientated from my knowledge.
It also has more 'maths' topics, whereas the latter course has more econometrics / finance options available.
I kind of think the latter course would just make me another 'LSE graduate' (like the buzz lightyear meme), whereas Maths with Data Science would make me somewhat unique in the context of the school. Having said that, the LSE is much more renowned for economics, and probably looks better on a resume.
If during my first year I decide I prefer economics or stats, my choice will be obvious. But for now (and therefore for early internship applications), I am not sure.
Thanks in advanced for any replies :)
