Help choosing Internship

My goal is to get into trading at a BB in New York comes full time recruiting. I have several SA offers. Either CS in HK, BlackRock PAG in NY or HSBC in NY.

CS Trading HK

Pros: It's in trading. I dont even have to worry about getting placed in Sales. It's a BB.

Con: It's in HK, which isnt even it's asia headquarters for S&T (i believe their S&T asia headquarters is singapore), so the office is probably quite small (I am guessing)

BlackRock AMG NY

Pros: It's in NY. BlackRock is also a great name

Cons: Unrelated

HSBC NY

Pros: It's in NY.

Con: It's HSBC. I might get placed in either sales or trading.

I'd say go with BlackRock. The name alone would help significantly with FT interviewing. Interning in HK when you want to be in NY is a disadvantage. The trader-hopefuls I knew that went to HK junior year all regretted it.

You could probably nudge your way into Trading at HSBC if you had some contacts to help you out. Judging from the options you have (esp the Portfolio Analytics one), it seems unlikely you'd be placed in Sales.

Since none of your choices directly correlate to IB, maybe you should move this to the job search forum.

PAG is not a true FO position. HSBC isn't all that hot in the US and getting stuck in sales would suck.

Being in HK does put you in a disadvantage but, holistically, it's a better option than your other choices.
