HELP having a coffee with an HR rep at a large pension fund Thursday!
Hi everyone, I need some general help here. By no means am I unaccustomed to networking and speaking on the fly with industry professionals but this specific situation has me a bit nervous. I have set up a coffee with an HR professional at a pension fund I previously worked at as a student. Today, I am a first year M&A associate at a firm in town looking to get into public equities. The pension fund currently has two positions open - one for trading and one for a HF type strategy. I am interested in both but probably best aligned for the HF strategy. The call has been set up as a "catch up coffee." Does it make sense to drop some hints about looking to make a move, should I come right out and ask a few questions about the position and indicate my interest in it? Should I play it cool and just catch up?
Ps. position is in Canada, so not as strict with previous experience as some of the US players may be, and no, i have not applied to any of the positions, they are open until the end of the month.
Any thoughts would be great. Thanks
