Hi, anyone in HK looking for analysts?

I know this might be funky place to ask for openings: currently working in a solid Chinese bank's China Coverage team that has very good deal flow. Have live deal experience. Don't want to disclose specific name but it's not hard to guess as I don't work at CICC or CLSA.

Total work experience is between 1.5-2 years. Current ib role ~10 months in.

Was working in infrastructure FAS at New York City before coming back to China/HK during covid-19. I had good modeling exposure and I self-study modeling a lot.

Currently work with a lot of healthcare companies, and have strong exposure to technology/software (can code and have projects on GitHub).

Why I want a lateral: I'm the OP of the post "Bad Team Culture: A Vent"...hehe

Would appreciate if someone is willing to connect.

Feel free to PM. Thanks !

I'm hitting my one year mark soon as well and same boat as you at a probably lower bank (Assuming you work in Haitong/Huatai if its healthcare), its been hard for me to find lateral opportunities as CICC/CLSA require nepotism and I don't do deals with BBs so no networking opportunity :(

Yeah I went through undergrad in the states but unfortunately not a target school so very few alumnis out there. I think you'll be fine at your current place as long as you have deal flow, there are always people in worse positions struggling as well :) Hang in there and hope we all may get to where we want

I'm in a much worse position compared to you as I don't have any relevant experience during my uni internships and ended up in Audit in HK, which you'd probably know the stigma associated with it. I got an offer from a very very small boutique and the pay is less than half of BB/EB etc. It's not even on par with Chinese banks. I'm probably going to stick it out for a bit for the experience then try to move on.

I think you're in a very good position to lateral into a BB or foreign bank and just need a bit of luck. Wish you all the best!
