Home Depot Analyst??????!?!

I was recently reached out to by a recruiter asking if I would be interested in interviewing for an "analyst" position with Home Depot at corporate. Word for word it states, "looking for top talent to help gain insights and analysis into Home Depot sales, inventory levels, and other business related data."

Is anyone familiar with such position? and if so anyone have any insight into what kind of "analyst" position it would be for, Corp. finance? Also comp, hours, culture?

Thanks

Sounds like analytics and data mining. But this is WSO. mainstreetoasis.com may know more about Home Depot roles.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

My older brother is a manager at the corporate office in the store ops group. Based off what he has told me the comp would be around 50K for an entry level analyst but your hours will be 40-50 a week. Its a pretty great culture at the corporate HD office (I actually know a couple people who work there), but there will definitely be the typical bullshit that comes with working for such a large company. Based off the description it wont be corporate finance related and will be much more operations focused, but for HD that is probably a better position to be in if you want to move up in the company. The good thing there is that if you are strong performer then it is relatively easy to lateral to different groups within the company. I also hear a lot of "criticism/complaining" that deals with being forced to work with dumb managers and associates in the stores that think they know what is best and fighting with corporate people a good amount. In the end, everyone I know that works there loves it and has no intentions of leaving anytime soon. If you are not dead set on finance I imagine that this would not be a bad place to work.
