How Can I Build Connections?

Hello guys, I hope you are all well! I'm a rising junior at the Schulich School of Business in Toronto, arguably top 5 semi-target in Canada, and I am currently looking for an off-cycle internship, preferably S&T or ER as I enjoy ER and believe S&T is more realistic than IB due to my background, being on a trading club at school. The deadlines are fast approaching and after a disappointing summer, received an offer which was cancelled due to COVID, I do not want to feel disappointed in myself again. I enjoy creating connections with people I talk to however I also understand that I only have a limited amount of time to do so, days not months, so what is the best way to convince non-alumni, since my school's alumni do not really place well nor do they tend to help out students as much as others. Any tips are appreciated thank you so much!
