How do I handle this job offer situation?

Hi All

I am currently working at Company A, but I need to relocate cities. I gave notice to Company A and started interviewing. Company A has offered me a substantial raise and bonus package to stay with them and work from the new city. I dont mind working at this Company - I am lukewarm / slightly positive on it as a whole. They have requested that I inform them of my decision today or tomorrow. My last day is Friday.

I interviewed with Company B and they have asked me to come back for the 4th round (and hopefully final) interview. The interview and potential job offer would not take place until at a minimum of next week. I think I would like this company/position, but I am not positive. The Company is highly respected and sought after. I would like to see their job offer.

So the dilemma is, how do I tell my current company, Company A, that I would like to see Company B'ss job offer before making a decision on whether I am going to stay with them. Since Friday is my last day with Company A, no matter what I will need to give them some type of notice/update on what I am doing...

Any thoughts on how to play this?

My wife had to relocate to this City for her job so it was required to let them know. I did not expect to be able to work for my current company in the new city.

So your wife's job is more important than yours? She keeps hers, but you have to quit? How did that happen - - ? :P

Did you have any idea that Company A would let you work remotely? Did you even approach them about it? Why or why not?

I ask the above because it's critical. Usually, it's a terrible idea to take a counter-offer, never do that. But if the counter-offer was a surprise (and it sounds like a reasonable one) then why are you even thinking about B? A clearly likes you enough (and trusts you) to be remote and have a raise. This might be a rare scenario where taking a counter-offer makes sense and you should forget about B - A clearly values you.

No, they have historically never allowed someone to work remote. This is a first and I did not expect them to allow it. Others have asked previously, and it has been shot down. I did not ask, because I did not expect it to be an option.

Then why are you even considering B??? A clearly thinks highly of you and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be taking it.

Remote work, a raise and a bonus. Why is this even being posted???

Go with the known and take the company you currently work with's offer. Then if you get the other companies offer and you know damn sure you'd rather go there(starting political and reputation process all over), then take that one and quit at your current company's new city.
