How do Referrals Work for SA Recruiting?

I just got a referral for a summer analyst internship. How does that work? Will it be very beneficial or not really?

Referral as in someone at the firm told you that you should apply? If yes, then apply. Or don’t. If you want an internship, I’d recommend applying though. If it’s for FT, same deal. They will likely extend an offer at the end of the summer, if not you can always recruit FT.
Referral as in I have already applied (done a hirevue) and then following a conversation with an employee today I got an email saying someone from the firm referred me.
That is likely a good thing… you will probably get an interview. Don’t think any action is necessary (maybe a acknowledgment/thanks?) depends on how the email was written. Kinda the thing you have to judge yourself
