How important is networking for London IB?

It seems as if people in the US spend a lot of time networking to get into IB. However, I have not heard of many people doing so for London IB. How important is networking to get internships at BBs and EBs in London?

I think it’s more about being at a target, doing a spring week and doing well on the assessment centre. M&I has some articles on this

This gets asked at least once a year so get used to googling before you ask but I'll indulge. It's not that important, I'd say the vast majority of people do not network into their internships, especially at BB. I've heard it can be more helpful at EB, but again, not everyone does it (and that's not to say you need to be some cracked candidate to afford to not do it).

Networking is always helpful from an information and motivational standpoint though.

It helps, but your school and how you come across is more important.
I landed in London without any connections (from NYC) and got a job in no time. Had minimal experience back then, no internships, and no family connections.
Having said that, having a functioning network in finance IS relevant if you know how to leverage it.

Met quite a few young people who got in through their network, it does help.
