How is European Experience Viewed in the U.S.?

Hi Fellow Monkeys,

US citizen here with some European roots, currently doing my bachelor’s in Europe! I have internship experience at a large AM (think Fidelity, Vanguard), as well as experience in consulting (MBB), and did an M&A internship at the largest private investment firm in the country.

I’m planning to move back to the U.S. after graduating and was curious how this experience is generally perceived. Does having European experience (internships, full-time roles) hold as much weight as U.S. experience, or are there any key differences in how it’s valued by employers?

Also, I’m considering pursuing a Master’s in Finance (MSF) in the U.S. Would this help improve my chances or make my profile more competitive when applying for roles back in the States?

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s made the transition or has insights into how recruiters and firms in the U.S. view candidates with a European finance background.

Thanks in advance!

Its holds some weight and its incredibly helpful that u are a US citizen. However it is much easier to get a job in London and transfer internally. An extra year in Europe is not the biggest deal unless u have to be back in US for wtv reason.
