How is Recruiting at Williams College?

Hello!

I originally posted this to the business school forum but didn’t get any responses so I’m trying my luck here.

Im a high school senior who is strongly considering applying to Williams College in the Early Decision round. I understand that Williams broadly classified as a low target or high semi-target but I was wondering if anyone personally knew what recruiting there was like or had insight from the industry for both finance and consulting.

In addition, how would Williams compare to say Dartmouth for example, as that is my other top choice. However, for external reasons I will have a much better shot if I apply ED to Williams than to Dartmouth. Is there a any disadvantage down the line when trying to land MF/UMM or HF spot? Or is this more of a "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" situation?

Dartmouth recruiting will be better than Williams but recruiting for IB from Williams isn't that hard if you have a good gpa, internships, etc. and network properly

Amherst and Williams are beginning to share recruiting events to incentivize larger firms to hold OCR so recruiting should improve materially as more firms commit to OCR

Williams is a top school so you shouldn't be at any sort of disadvantage for MF/UMM or HF recruiting as analyst should you pursue that

Williams is most definitely not a “low-target” - getting a job in IB coming from there will be relatively easy if you stay in the loop. Meaning, attend all OCR events and frequently visit the career center. Obviously, maintain a 3.5+ GPA and you’ll likely have your choice of banks. At a school like Williams, if 30 grads want to do IB, AT LEAST 20 will have the chance. You can literally just look at LinkedIn for reference.

And if your external reason is sports, would HIGHLY recommend getting that experience. You won’t regret it. I was in an incredibly similar position 5 years ago, and I’m extremely happy with the choice I made.

Best of luck!

Anyone has info on how Williams compares to Notre Dame? (Apologies for hijacking) :(
