How long to wait for an offer

I've finished final round interviews at a BB for a very niche group through a former co-worker who referred me to join his group and set up all the interviews. I spoke with about 7 total people, and my friend told me that for the most part they all seemed to like me, especially the head of the group pushing for me.

After wrapping up with the interviews my friend told me they'll circle back internally in a week and send out offers the week after. It has been about a week and a half since I was supposed to hear back with the offer but haven't heard anything yet. I reached out to him once and he said he's been super busy but has only heard good things about me so far with me being on the top of their list but just unsure on timing.

Essentially, is it unusual for certain groups at banks to take this long to send out offers? I assumed turnaround would be a few days given what I've seen from first-year/summer offers but maybe it is different for "experienced" hires?

Yea I'm continuing to have interviews, and actually got some insight at another BB who told me that they want to move quick but last time their HR team took over a month sending out offers, so maybe its a similar issue at this bank as well. Regardless, thanks for the input!

Yea its been a little over three weeks since my final round. I actually just reached out to my friend and he told me that the biggest reason for the delay is that two guys higher up left and they've been scrambling to replace them and shifted their focus to that. However, he still believes that they want to bring me on and the head of the group liked me a lot but are just waiting to make that decision for me after they figure out the other role opening. Not sure what the point is to have me wait but I guess that is better news.
