How much do I need to network?

Hi all,

Sophomore at a semi-target here. School has very good placements at some banks, but is a complete non-target for others. When trying to target EBs how many conversations are needed to get a first round? Assuming non-diverse but with freshman year finance experience at an overall solid resume. I understand that these conversations need to be good and are not just a "check the box", but wondering for some kind of range here. Maybe just assume these are solid 25 minute conversations with a referral at the end, but not calls where I feel like they will push for me significantly over other candidates they enjoyed speaking to. For non-targets at EBs is it just a matter of 3ish Analysts/associates flagging your resume in some sort of portal with HR and that means you get a first round? I know my school's target banks will do roundtables with alumni, so just wondering for any insight.

Thanks.

As is said in boxing and mma: Never leave it up to the judges.

In other words, don’t allow for HR to be the only person who learns about you before anyone else at the firm. Network as much as you can but be concentrated in your efforts. Try not to focus so much on the outcome of the calls. Focus more on building rapport. They already know the point of it.
