How much time do HFs give to accept / reject an offer?
Trying to guesstimate how long do HFs give to accept or reject an offer?
Waiting to hear back from #1 choice for 3 weeks now but seems like #2 choice will be putting up an offer soon.

Depends on firm and whether on cycle or not. I’ve seen anywhere from 2-3 days to basically no time limit. I would say average is about 1-2 weeks for “on cycle” recruiting.
And what's typical for "wait time"when they actually make you an offer after final round?
Feel like BBs move faster because they know they are competing against everyone else.
HFs will usually reply within 1-5 days. Anything after that and you are “on hold”.
Hmmmm, so does the "hold" status mean they are continuing to interview more people? Or that they have already put an offer to someone else and just have you as a backup?
Depends on the size of the firm. If a larger firm they may just be interviewing a bit more to make sure they get the “best” X people (since they have larger “classes” and have some flexibility on recruiting). If a smaller firm then they probably have an offer out. Again, this is just my experience, so maybe different with the place you are dealing with.
