Sounds like you answered your own question. You plan to just start somewhere (gain experience) and network all the while trying to move up. I am unaware of any other magical answer.
Also, good job on 150 credit hours in 3 years. Hopefully you have some EC's. I can't help but think you should have stretched your education out another year to fit in some internships.
Thank you for your response, SureThing! I appreciate the help. I have plenty of ECs but again, no connections and no internship experience lined up. Is there something I should look into when I first move to the city? I have a place set to live in, just don't know where to go from there.
Yeah, my reaction is the same as SureThing's. Come to think of it, any chance you could stretch out another year of college? I have no idea about your financial situation, and personally, I could not have added an extra year, but if you attend for a 4th year and take maybe 2 classes per semester, that allows you intern a lot more - maybe one internship per semester, or a year-long internship, that could give you a) a job or b) the experience you need to get a job that doesn't start in the mailroom.
Also, you could probably try to find an internship for this summer. It wouldn't be 100% honest per se, but most companies will not have assumed you are graduating in 3 years, so you could still treat this summer as a typical summer junior year internship.
Thank you for the response. What would you do if you were in my position? What positions would you look for in finance companies? Would you approach Deutsche Bank or some other firm? Is working in the mailroom actually an option or is there a better medium from which I can work my way up?
If you're able, doing another year of school like ^^snakeplissken said would be really beneficial, even if it were to take classes that didn't affect your majors. That would give you time to get an internship or two and even raise your gpa a bit. I think if you got a solid finance-related internship on top of your 3 degrees you would have a very strong resume, even if your school is "second tier." I might even look at working abroad for an internship or job to emphasize your German speaking abilities, just a thought
