How to approach internal transfer from ER to IB

I'm currently an equity research associate (2 years experience) at a top BB in NYC. I'm looking to get into IB, ideally by transferring internally within my bank. Does anyone have any insight on how to approach this? What's the best method / what should I avoid? Appreciate any help.

best method to start is to talk to an internal mobility rep at hr. they are on your team and can guide you threw the requirement. You have been in your current role for 2 yrs so no problem there. Hr rep will be in tune to who is hiring and help you make connections with members of the group. you don't need to be a technical wizard from what I've seen but you do need to be able to hold your own in an interview and check the box in that regard.
