How to gtfo of the Nordics
Pretty much the title. Been working for a Nordics focused fund in one of the welfare countries as an investment analyst/associate for around 3 years now, but I'd like to get out and work on a Pan-European scale. I have been getting some interviews abroad, making final rounds, and getting strong feedback, but I've yet to land anything. I understand employers see relocation as a risk, but I have already lived in multiple different Central European countries, so it wouldn't be an issue and it would be something I'd actually want. What should I do? I am getting frustrated with the situation and afraid I won't be able to make it out before getting fully pidgeonholed.

Bump, I will most likely be in the same position a couple of years from now
Some ideas:
Be a diversity candidate
Join a global fund and try to wiggle yourself to another office (very tough)
Do a degree abroad
Very tough for white males. Nordic language is needed but a lot of Nordic coverage is in… Nordics
Hehe thanks, I'll dump my gf and find a bf ->
But yeah its really tough, already have a masters so next step would be to do an MBA. Alternatively, recruiting for IB and going from there could be an option.
Or just straight out move to another country. I don't know how UK works anymore but you have EU passport so you can literally just pack your stuff and move to Frankfurt or something and spend half a year recruiting there. People forget that's an option yet folks move literally all the time because of spouses / partners etc without anything "lined up".
Thats true as well, but that has a ton of risk attached to it. Don't want to end up selling currywurst for the rest of my life :D I still have a UK visa and have been thinking of it though, I'd appear a lot less riskier as a candidate that way.
I know of several US headquartered funds that specifically hire people with Nordic language skills in their London office because they don’t have a Nordic office. The other option would be to work for a Nordic fund that has a pan-European mandate and transfer offices after a few years.
