How to kill it in a virtual internship

Hello All,

With the current COVID-19 crisis, my SA stint at a MM shop was moved virtual a few weeks ago. This is mixed feelings for me as I was looking forward to going into the office and meeting the team and I know in person I can work hard but also socialize. It would have been great to really engage with the team. On the flip side, I'm saving a ton on rent which is nice and late-night work can be done from home vs. the office. That being said I am still worried about how I can stand out to receive a FT offer. Normally I know this shop takes ~40-50% of SAs for FT but I am assuming that number will reduce given the crisis so I know I need to grind.

Obviously keeping the same work ethic is key. I am focusing myself on training on excel and revisiting technicals to be ready conceptually for the work while also dabbling with powerpoint as I know that's going to be important too. Do you guys who have been working in this environment for some time now have any tips of other things I can be doing to both boost the quality/efficiency of my work when it is given virtually? Any tips for asking for help when you can't just physically ask someone?

I would also love to hear any insight into the qualitative aspects of the job. It's going to be much harder to be my natural self via zoom but I do want to demonstrate that I care about team dynamics and the fit. I also would like to gauge the fit for myself to see if it is a place I want to work full-time so any advice on that would be super.
