how worthy is an internship in financial advising/services?
I got an offer in Dallas (I'm from ATL) to work for LPL Financial, it's a financial advisory/planning firm. They asked me to make a list of my sphere of influences (people I know) and make a few calls and get them to sign up for their newsletter. I have to pay for living and it's a long way away. My main concern is, how relevant is this or how much will this help me if I'm pursuing a career in investment banking for banks like GS, or JPM?
... doesn't sound great, to be honest. Sounds to me like they're gonna make you an insurance salesman.
....Troll?
dont do it

If you want to secure a career in IB, try getting a boutique internship for the time being. Otherwise, I'd suggest trying to conduct academic research over the summer in finance or economics and networking hard for next summer.
Sounds legit.
