Grinded day and night as soon as the internship ended and found out I had no return. Sacrificed my grades, didn’t go out, gf even broke up with me bc I didn’t have time to see her (got her back now). Finally got an offer at a no name shop doing quasi-IB debt stuff around Halloween after doing anywhere between 1-4 interviews a week since august and dozens of networking calls. Was applying for everything even remotely related to IB, Corp banking, TAS, credit, consulting, etc. At this point started being more selective but kept recruiting, shopped around and landed a one-off BB spot right before Thanksgiving. It was pretty fucking soul crushing but feels damn good now. If you’re still recruiting rn I’d say take a break for a few weeks for the holidays since nobody will be giving out interviews between Christmas and new years anyway - regroup, clear your brain a bit, do some reflecting and get back on the horse in January. Random one-off spots will continue popping up even if there is no structured recruitment cycle. If you were good enough to land an SA you will get something eventually. Keep your head up king 👑

Funnily enough I did 0 networking with that group at the BB after busting my ass for “shittier” firms and not even getting a first round. Goes to show how random this shit is. Saw a posting on Handshake (I go to a lower semi (non?) target) that was only open for like 2 days and unexpectedly got an interview invite a few weeks later
