HR wants to have lunch with me, will I get canned?

I moved from a BB to a regional office of a mm firm. Have tried to be a bit more proactive when helping out with recruiting for the firm. Apperantly IB doesn't like it when you help other parts of the firm.

Now HR invited me to have lunch. Will I get fired for overstepping my boundaries?

Obviously nobody here is aware of the details of your exact situation, but I would find it extremely odd for HR to take you out to lunch just to fire you. Why would they waste that money? Wouldn’t they find it incredibly awkward meeting you for lunch, firing you, then walking back to the office with you? I highly doubt they would do that.

I mean, nobody is going to get fired over proactively recruiting. They would just tell you to stop doing it and leave it at that. If you kept doing it, then they might because you chose to ignore them. To get fired in banking, you have to be absolutely trash at your job or fuck up in some colossal way.

As someone mentioned, they wouldn't take you to lunch to fire you. They would just have you come to their office and do it there.
