IB Chance: 4.0 student - Transfer or stay at non-Target?
Hi there, I'm at a non-target NESCAC (i.e., not Williams or Amherst). Just finished freshman year taking advanced coursework (including junior level math and econ). If I stay at my current school I'll likely keep my grades this high and graduate with Econ/Math double major.
My school has an OK IB/Wall St network, but not as good as the Ivies or a few other schools. My question is do I look to transfer to an Ivy where I'll be one of many smart kids but have a larger network, or stay put and try and really stand out academically and athletically (varsity hockey)? I think I know the answer but would love the WSO community's perspective.
You're a freshman--so it's early. Relevant experience through internships can make up for the fact that you attend a non-target; it's also a big plus that you play a varsity sport. NESCAC schools are still good schools, just not all are targets for IB.
