IB in South Florida
College freshman here, I'm at a non target and majoring in Finance. I've decided I will only work in South Florida and only do internships in South florida. This year I was able to get a PWM internship through a family connection. Another thing is I'd only consider working in Ft Lauderdale to Palm Beach area, not Miami. Any IB in Broward and Palm Beach besides Farlie Turner and Cross Keys?
If I strike out on IB here, what other career in finance could I pursue in this area?

Are you at UF? I'm sure you know about the bachelors+masters combo that ambitious folks leverage to get into banking. That might open doors to better ibd opps outside the state. Firms like CKC and Farlie are really glorified business brokers and LMM shops. They only use comps for valuation. That said, because their sell-side clients are mostly family owned and small private businesses, junior guys will often spend time assembling financial statements from scratch (invoices, P&L sheets etc.). I'm not sure whether PE firms like HIG will hire people from these LMM places.
bump, anyone know what Haig partners is like?
I interacted with them a few years ago when they were smaller and just getting up and running. Seemed like good guys at the time. I know they’ve grown the team since then but they seemed pretty easy to work with. Don’t know anyone working there right now but the comp we discussed was in line with other firms at the time and the culture seemed decent.
