If a contact vouches to HR for you...
..and you have a decent resume with relevant experience but are from a non-target. Can you at least get a phone interview if I have also networked with HR? This is for Asset Management at a top firm. Are my odds greater now/is at least a first round phone interview guaranteed?

The GPA is going to be really hard to overlook. Try cold calling and networking instead of simply applying for positions.
