Incoming Sophomore IB SA '22 Internship Question (exp grad '24)

Hello Fellow Monkeys,

Context: I am an incoming sophomore at a non-target school currently interning at a hedge fund this summer (hoping it will help me land a IB internship on was). I reached out to like the 5 alumni on Wallstreet from my school, one of them offered to get me in contact with an HR person -- and says I should get an IB SA internship at a BB bank next summer to set myself up for a full time offer in the coming years.

Heres the issue --

do banks even recruit incoming sophomores for 2022 IB SA. Every '22 IB SA app I've seen besides Morgan Stanley says you need to be an incoming junior basically (i.e. credit sussie, jpm, barc, etc) So Morgan Stanley is the only place an incoming sophomore can apply to for next summer? How can someone in my position set themselves apart from others (not accademeicly) rather, via internships, if only one IB (is there other banks) are looking at incoming sophomores for '22?

Thanks wso.

I had no clue BofA is allowing incoming sophomores to apply, I checked the application portal and it said juniors only. I will definitely keep an eye out for UBS apps!!

I noticed JPM only offers SA to rising sophomore that is diversity.

I BofA think is diversity only though, and I have to imagine they filled a lot of those seats through the D&I Launchpad thing they did a few weeks ago. Last year the app for sophomore analysts opened in August so just stay tuned I guess. But every year the timeline gets pushed back so maybe network to see what the timeline looks like this year or ask your college's career center. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
