"Incoming summer analyst" still stupid in 2022?

I'm a sophomore in undergrad that's recruiting for finance for the past year or so. When I was first new to everything, I saw a lot of people on LinkedIn with incoming SA titles for whatever internship they were doing, usually a prestigious BB or a buyside shop. It seemed kind of pretentious and like they just wanted to show off, and I googled around and found some threads on here a couple years old saying the same.

Nowadays, it seems like every kid in finance does it, even the non-hardos. I've heard people say putting incoming summer analyst at XYZ firm helps recruiters find you to reach out. I recently accepted an offer at a buyside firm for 2023. Since it's so far in the future, I was wondering if having the "incoming" on my LinkedIn will do anything for networking/FT recruiting outside of having a couple hundred 20 year olds know I got an offer.

Is the "incoming summer analyst" on your LinkedIn still letting everyone know you're insecure? or is it the new norm nowadays?

Depends. I did it as a Non-Target getting ready for placement and was looking to gain better traction than "Student at XYZ school."I didn't plan on doing it until I was struggling connecting with people at the bank. Worked for me but removed it after I placed. Also - nobody really cares. Can just change your header to Incoming and move on
