Informational Interview when there is a job opening
Yes, I know informational interviews have been covered extensively but my question pertains to how to go about this when we both know there is an opening.
My question is how do I approach informational interviews when there is an opening? Through networking I was passed along and told to schedule a time to speak with a VP. Normally informational interviews that I have experienced were somewhat laid back as I was not asking for something at that particular time. But since there is an opening with an immediate need, is this considered more like a first round? I have been in these situations in the past and the banker did not really probe or ask any questions so I'm at a loss for how to put my best foot forward here. Any input is appreciated.
I'd say be direct
General rule of thumb: Every single call is an interview, they just range in degrees of formality.
