internship advice needed

I finished my undergrad in May and have been unsuccessfully looking for a job since then. I haven't been having too much trouble landing interviews, but then when I am actually getting interviewed, my experience inevitably comes up. Heres the issue: for whatever reason I graduated internshipless (primarily because I'm an idiot and didnt have someone there to tell me how big of a deal this could be). It's like a huge blemish that I try to avoid and disguise on every interview, but it constantly comes up.

Maybe I'm off here, but at this point I kinda feel like my lack of having had one is what's been killing me. My question is how to handle this. You see, the last thing I want to do is keep looking for a job that will take me w/out one if im just gonna realize eventually i just need to do it. Which just leads to yet another problem, which is that i feel like most internship programs only accept undergrads. Do i just suck and it is possible to land analyst gigs w/out internships? Or shud I just bite the bullet and do an internship first? If the latter, do they even take grads for those programs? Thanks for any advice

P.S.- every friend I know who had an internship literally did nothing for the entire time, so the fact that these places put so much weight on the damn things is completely beyond me... but that is another discussion entirely

I think internships are more of a networking tool than anything else, letting people know your interested in finance and following though etc.

Unless your from a target, a job is had through networking, and even then it probably is.

There are post grad internships though. You just have to look through the requirements and see if attending university is mandatory (this is so the can give you credits instead of cash).
