Internship, yes or no.

I have tried to get an internship for this summer (I'm a freshman) but have had no luck. I was talking to my mom the other day, who runs a PWM company. Obviously this is not a BB like UBS or anything like that, but would working for, show interest in finance and be something I could put on my resume. She assured me I would actually learn stuff like evaluating mutual funds and giving recommendations, among other things. Would it be looked down upon to do this?

No the company isn't named after my mom, I guess there would be no way to know. I just thought for some reason if it came up, it might be looked down upon for some reason. I tried to get at my local UBS branch, but they said they couldn't take on any more interns. But now as I look at it, I might get more out of working for my mom's company. Although it small and local, she said I would be getting actual work, not just photocopying and cold calling BS. Another question, will this show my interest in finance just like PWM at a local BB such as UBS? WIll it be looked at as inferior to that because the name isn't recognizable?

Thanks

I was just offered UBS PWM at a local branch...will this look better than my mom's boutique, even if the work experience and things they have me do is worse?
