internships for econ majors?

Are there any summer analyst positions/internships for economics majors at boutiques or mid-sized banks?

I know the big banks take econ majors, but as a non target with 3.6 not having such great luck getting into those.

Ive taken principles of finance and intro to accounting, but seems like I would need to know more to actually be useful enough for a summer analyst position.

Does anyone have any ideas about an area of finance/banking that would have internships for an econ major? Am i not qualified enough for boutiques or am i basically as unqualified as the freshmen applying to them?

Thanks.

Theres no one major that says you have to have to get a job in IB or S&T. Being an econ major isn't bad at all. You should look around and apply to positions in an area you are interested in. Always...the best way to do it is Network, Network, Network

Offers? for what?

Financial Accounting is all you really need as base knowledge for IBD; as far as being an econ major and how it relates to MM/boutique banks, these guys are typically (slightly) less inclined to hire econ majors over accounting/finance majors, the reason being that a lot of them don't have as structured training programs as the BB banks, so they'd rather not take that risk. That being said, the disadvantage, if any, is minimal.
