Interview gone wrong

I was asked if I had a long and a short during an interview and I shared a long that I felt confident in and shared a short that had already hit a month ago, and said that I had no shorts I was excited about at this moment. The question was to understand how I came up with the ideas rather than the idea itself. I obviously messed up but how bad is that? Would this be an automatic no for them/is there no way I get a next round? I wanted to be intellectually honest that there was not a short I was excited about at the time but now I feel that I should have prepared more
