Interview locations
Hey everyone,
I am applying for an internship with Goldman Sachs in its Finance division.
This question may seem dumb or as if it should be common sense, but I'm honestly not sure. I live in Chicago, but the Finance division (in the US) is located in New York. If I were to land an interview, would I be expected to travel to them, or would it take place in Chicago or near me (I got to a non-target school). This will definitely influence which divisions I apply with, as I definitely do not have the resources to travel to New York.

They will most likely pay for you to fly to NY to interview. Given that you are extended an offer you will most likely also be given a relocation stipend for the summer.
Usually 1st rounds are over telephone and they pay for your travel expenses (air fare and accommodation) for the final round which you have to attend in person.
London is correct. You will have a first round over the phone or on campus, and if they want you to interview in person for final rounds, they will pay for you to travel to NYC (flight, hotel, food) and then will give you a "signing bonus" which you can use to help pay for your move.
