Interviewer: "It's been very helpful." Err, ok?
Just finished a phone interview with a bulge bracket back for an associate position. All soft questions: tell me about your experiences, your career goals, etc. No technicals. Lots of questions about why I want to do investment banking.
At the end, he thanked me for my time and said "it's been very helpful." Anyone get that before? Thoughts?
It doesn't mean anything...just says the information you gave him was helpful in the hiring process.
don't think it means anything are you currently working?
Was it HR or a professional?
It was with a VP in the group I'm applying for a position in.
It means as much as ' it looks positive'
Don't obsess over this. If he didn't tell you your getting a round 2 or telling you to not waste his time, you just have to wait and see. Tough love.
Well, we'll see. Maybe I was hoping for too much, but I figured if the phone interview went well, I would have heard something like "we'll be in touch with next steps."
I was expecting harder hitting questions. As is, I worry that I failed to make a strong impression. I mean, it's hard to wax philosophical about one's interest in pursuing any career, nonetheless investment banking. I just aimed to sound enthusiastic and name aspects of the profession I enjoy (team work, doing deals, etc.). He just kept coming back to it, though.
