Is an internship going into my sophomore summer necessary?

I am currently a freshman and even though I have only been in college for a month or so I am already getting nervous. I am a freshman at the Ross school of business at Umich and am extremely interested into going into investment banking. I cannot afford to not make money during the summer and currently have a summer job I absolutely love, truly haven’t worked a day in my life at this position, however it’s a public service position that gives me no finance experience. Is it possible to succeed and get a great investment banking job without that summer internship going into sophomore year?
