Is computer science necessary?

Hi guys, I'm not well-versed on the financial track although I'm in college and very interested in either an analyst/hedgefund/IB job. Right now I'm a double major in Econ and Math. What scares me is that I keep hearing how computer science is so important; I tried taking computer science my first semester however I'm dreadful at it. So I was just wondering if Econ and Math would be sufficient to land a job and excel at it without being a computer whiz.

IlliniProgrammer Kind of answered your question, but as a person who is good with algorithms and hates coding I would say that knowing your way around a piece of code is never going to hurt. I dropped my Computer Science Major and ended up with Economics Major + Computer Science and Mathematics Minors, so I can relate to you in some way. Keep in mind that being capable of understanding a piece of code and being able to write it from scratch are two completely different things. Nowadays almost all sort of algorithms and problems' solutions can be found on the Internet and probably the biggest challenge you could face is to combine several such into a single working program.
