Is Consulting -> Megafund IR -> FoF / LP investing possible?
Per the title, I'm currently a consulting analyst advising on private equity type work (not MBB). I know there are a lot of people at similar boutique consulting firms hoping to get to the GP side, but is the path of going to biz dev now at a megafund (Carlyle, KKR, BX) and then hoping to get into a FoF primaries Associate role soon after even (Grosvenor, Alpinvest) possible?
Also considering taking the IR/Bizdev role and then pursuing an MBA -> IB Financial Sponsors Group -> FoF Sr. Associate.
Thoughts? I'm from a target, high GPA/GMAT, could do CFA / CAIA too.
