I personally think if you can't land front office for the summer, back office at a bulge bracket might be a good option. It might give you the opportunity to apply for full time internally through the firm. Also if you network with people in front office and they like you, might land an offer. Treasury seems more interesting.
But you should still apply to MM's and boutique investment banks before taking BB back office.
