Is gunning for IB a good idea?

I’m a highschool student who is pursuing a career in IB. I have vague knowledge on other finance careers and no interest in other fields (healthcare, engineering, tech). I’m a hard worker and know about the work life balance aspect of the career. Are there certain people that make it in finance? What are niche things you wish you could’ve knew 10 years ago? Any insight helps.

The important thing is never to let oneself be guided by the opinion of one's contemporaries; to continue steadfastly on one's way without letting oneself be either defeated by failure or diverted by applause.
