Is it difficult to go from a Sophomore year BB S&T role to Junior year IB SA?

I will be doing a sophomore analyst role at a BB in S&T this summer. When I had accepted the role, I was leaning toward wanting to do S&T full time, but recently I have come to find IB more interesting.

My sophomore analyst role will give me the potential for a junior return, but I think I want to apply for IB SA. Would banks look at me strangely for having an S&T internship?

Absolutely. Speaking from personal experience, my top tier BB had an internal mobility program for sophomores to move between different divisions. Also as a sophomore with a FO BB role, other banks will eat your resume up since they know another bank has already vetted you. As long as you get the return offer, you'll definitely be able to get IB offers given you explain your story correctly.
