Is sophomore asset management good for junior IB?
Hey everyone, I'm a sophomore. I just got an offer from an AM firm with ~$25bn in AUM. I'm still waiting on other opportunities that are in IB. I'd obv rather take those, but if need be, is AM during sophomore summer going to be fine for junior year IB recruiting? I also have this other PWM gig that I'm waiting on, so would that be better than AM?
I think the AM role would be better for your career. Getting exposure to institutional investing as a sophomore is pretty rare. It’s a more valuable experience imo and you’ll learn a lot that I think will be good material to gas yourself up in interviews. However, I do see a lot of PWM interns end up in IB eventually so maybe that experience is valued in that role. Could also be that the AM interns recruit for AM less than IB whereas the PWM interns are all gunning for IB.
Iusto necessitatibus magnam voluptatem fuga quo. Mollitia inventore et distinctio.
