IS THERE STILL TIME??

Hi guys, I am a junior at a nontarget recruiting for IB right now and I'm starting to realize that recruiting is pretty much over. Do you think I should start targeting LMM or boutique firms by cold emailing or should I just try to get an offer anywhere? I've been trying to cold email to find any opportunities for next summer and I'm scared that I missed out. Any advice would be much appreciated

Dude, relax. It's true, recruiting is pretty much a done deal for BBs/EBs but many smaller boutiques haven't even started recruiting yet. I cold emailed a boutique just today and they said they're not even starting recruiting until November/December. A friend of mine last summer went through interviews with a small MM bank one month before the position started and ended up with an IB Summer Analyst position. He's working for Evercore this coming up summer (we do go to a target though). Basically cold email / network with every person you can (for cold emailing, esp at the VP/director level) and apply to any position you see. You'll get there. Once you get the SA IB position, network HARD (informational interviews as opposed to cold cold emailing) for a FT offer at your target banks, if you put your head down and work hard in the summer and get a return offer use that to shop around.

thanks man, really appreciate the assurance. Do you have a list of smaller boutiques you're reaching out or are you reaching out to alumni at those boutiques?
