this was sent like 20 minutes after I applied
Is this the first time you have ever applied to a job online?
this is first time i ever received this message. Whats your take? a diing?
seems like the generic thank you for applying message...
not a ding, just automatically generated to all applicants
This is an auto-reply, all the banks have it, it's confirmation that they've received your completed application.
thanks, the context of the message just makes it sound like you got dinged, no?
They all sound almost exactly like that, give or take a few words.
A ding sounds more like:
"We would like to thank you for your interest in.. We have had a large amount of applications this year...After careful review we have decided not to procede with your application. Due to the large number of qualified applicants...etc."
^^ it's an automatic message and means nothing more than “we have received your application”
how can they ding you in 20 mins? be reasonable.
I applied to a bank for an internship once online at like 4AM and got a ding at 9AM sharp...
Why even bother applying online? From what I've heard it's not worth it, you're just killing your opportunities by being lazy and not trying to get your resume to a real person.
Not sure how it works in America, but insome jurisdictions like London you really have no choice. I've heard that back in America some banks make you both apply online and drop a resume during OCR.
I got interviews at MS, GS, Credit Suisse, and a bunch of MM and boutiques by applying online from a semi target. Had an ok GPA and a pretty good resume. Although these places did post on my school's career center website.
It's definitely worth it. But I get what you're saying about going the extra step in networking.
It's a definite ding. When they wish you success with your future career endeavors, it's a ding.
you dinged yourself by applying online
the whole wishing you success in future career endeavors definitely makes it sound like a ding. 20 minutes is awfully fast though... either they really hated you or somebody in HR had their 5 hour energy that morning.
When I did my first internship at a BB, I got the job strictly through networking. After that, I had to go through the process of applying for the job online, so that HR could get all their crap sorted out. I had to write a cover letter and everything, it was ridiculous because I was doing this in a cubicle next to the MD's secretary's office at the bank, and I was clearly hired already... oh the bureaucracy of corporate America.
That is a very confusing message.
It's not a ding. They will contact you if you are one of the "most qualified candidates"
This should be a GMAT verbal question
sounds like a ding to me... sounds like HSBC...
I've had that message from Citi and they never called.
I talked to the hiring manager already and he submitted my resume to them and he told me to apply as well just to hit them on both sides. Still a ding?
no dude, you're fine. that's an auto-reply that everybody gets when they apply online. stay in touch with the hiring manager.
Thanks, its just the auto response is really ambiguous. Hope everyone is doing well with their search!
This is applied to not only banks, that could be from almost any companies when you're applying for a job online.
Thats why the poster from above asked that question
Is this the first time you EVER apply for a job online?
No.
